Do you ever feel like you are on a merry-go-round, going round and round and round, seeing the same scenery over and over again?
You are trying to start a business - so somehow you got on a merry-go-round horse.
Each day you get 50-100 emails telling you that you are on the wrong horse on the merry-go-round, just get off your horse and get on another.
But once you get on the next horse, the vantage point changes just a little - but the scenery is the same. No matter which horse you are on, when you look past the other horses (and riders) you see the same scenery over and over again, as the merry-go-round goes round.
Then tomorrow, another 50-100 emails. Jump horses again.

Is that what you've been doing, jumping from horse to horse by getting no where?
But deep down inside, you know that you don't want to just sit on a merry-go-round horse, you want to ride YOUR OWN HORSE.
You don't want to own some cookie-cutter business that looks just like everyone else's, that doesn't work anyway cause it's on a fake merry-go-round with fake horses and some $7 an hour ticket-taker taking your ticket to get on.
But the thing is, the merry-go-round is sexy, flashy, and let's face it, feels REALLY safe.
Cause the merry-go-round is only going 5 mph, and all the horses are moving at the same pace, so if you get off one horse and get on another, it's safe. You won't fall, skin your knees, bleed, or anything like that.
But the problem is this: your safety net isn't making you any money, is it?
You've been chasing a dream for some time - but all it is right now is a far-away dream.
You've invested possibly thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours, maybe had countless fights with your husband or wife, maybe you've risked your relationship with your husband or wife, maybe even your children - over a dream that, frankly, on that merry-go-round, ain't goin' nowhere. You are going round and round and round, and NOTHINGs' going to change, is it?
Sorry, I know this is harsh.
You may be angry with me right now.
Want to punch me through the computer screen.
Or maybe you are crying, 'cause you've already lost it all.
But bear with me.
I promise that if you'll read every word on the rest of this letter, you will have a life-changing 'aha' moment that will make all the difference in the world.
But before we go on, I want to talk about another set of horses.
These aren't on the merry-go-round. These aren't flashy, plastic horses with painted saddles and a pole to hold onto.
These are the real thing.
They run wild in a 1,000 acre field.
They are brown, and red, and gold, and white, mottled, and solid, and striped and every other combination.
Instead of going around and around at the same speed as all the others, they can bolt at 35-45 mph.
If you aren't holding on, you can be thrown off, stomped on by your own horse, and maybe even die.
Break your legs, crush your skull, bleed your lungs out.
Poke a hole in your lungs and die for lack of air.
They can fight each other, there are rattlesnakes in the field that can rise up and bite you and kill you and make you really hurt.
Oh! and you can't just jump from one wild horse to another.
Nope, you have to choose just ONE horse and tame that horse.
Bring it carrots and apples and get it to trust you.
Find out where it likes to be scratched, teach it to listen to you, come to you, respect you.
It might take a year to tame that wild horse.
And if that horse throws you, you can't just find another horse.
Nope, you gotta get right back on.
Wild, fast, brutal, bloody, exciting . . .
So here's the question, do you want to stay on the merry-go-round or tame a wild horse?
Do you want to stay on the safe, relaxing, merry-go-round with the plastic saddle, molded pole, and bright shiny promises that never come true . . . or choose a wild horse to tame and stake your future on?
Are you gonna be a merry-go-round marketer who fails again and again, or are you gonna be a wild-horse marketer who suffers blood and pain and guts . . . but emerges the winner in the long run?
Now, here's the thing, your wife can't choose for you, your husband or dog or boss can't choose for you.
YOU have to choose.
Merry-go-round or wild horse?
Now, the rest of this letter is written to wild-horse people who are ready to learn to ride the wild horse. If you are a merry-go-round person who wants to stay on the merry-go-round, this isn't for you.
Cause this isn't another plastic merry-go-round horse with flashy plastic saddles and toe-holds and shiny fake silver poles to hold onto.
And to go into the 1,000 acre field and tame a wild horse, you are going to have to get OFF the merry-go-round. Jump off. You might get skinned. It will be really embarrassing to admit you were on a fake horse. But you'll have to make the jump.
Then you'll have to tame your horse.
Are you ready?
If so, let's go for it.
Now, enough with the imagery.
I'm gonna talk about what it really takes to build a real business - tame that wild horse.
And it's gonna sound really boring.
Just like taming a wild horse.
Most of it's boring.
You gotta bring carrots and apples each day, you gotta hire a trainer, you gotta build a stall, you gotta put hay down in the stall each day, you have to shovel horse manure every day, you have to toss out the peed-in hay each night or the horse will get hoof disease, you gotta feed the horse each day, spend an hour a day teaching the horse to take a saddle, tolerate a bit and harness, get on the horse, get thrown off, get back on hurting, get thrown off, rub the horse down, feed the horse, water the horse . . . and so on and so on.
It's boring.
All for 5 minutes of a ride once a day.
What I'm gettting ready to share with you is gonna cause you to say, that's so boring it can't be right.
People keep telling me this over and over again, and I keep looking the other way cause the bright and shiny objects keep luring me away.
There's nothing bright and shiny about what I am getting ready to tell you.
It's the raw truth.
It's what it takes to build a consistent, reliable business from scratch, or rejuvenate a failing one.
And before you say, well so-and-so didn't do it this way.
Mary had a bright idea, and she wrote a sales letter and got a few sponsors and it just took off for her.
Johnny woke up and 2 in the morning and had a lightning-bolt idea and told his wife and she financed it and they lived happily ever after.
The truth is this: if that was going to happen to you, it would have already happened. And if you really believe that it's gonna happen that way, then stop buying bright and shiny objects cause you don't need them anyway. Your godmother will make it all come true.
yeah, right.
Give up the hope that something lucky will happen.
A wise person once said, the harder I work, the luckier I am.
Look, I consider myself fairly successful for a internet marketer. I have a consistent monthly income, pays all the bills plus some, I work 15-20 hours a week (a little less than that on average when you take vacations into account).
But luck has had nothing to do with it.
Yes, I've had some lucky moments. But they've all happened after working REALLY HARD.
Let's get to the game plan.
Here is the outline:
A profitable niche
A place where you can find prospects who NEED what you have
A presence where folks can see that you are an expert (like a blog, etc.)
An attraction piece (like a free giveaway of a really useful thing like a checklist or training)
A way to communicate DAILY with your prospects (like a email campaign)
A way to meet needs - like a product that teaches your process for whatever you teach
The determination to rinse and repeat.
You won't make it with one product.
You need multiple products, a membership, a coaching program.
And possibly add in some affiliate products (by the way, this system can be used with affiliate products in place of your own products at first, but your margins will be significantly lower)
WAIT! You say, I've seen that before.
And I've even tried it.
I create a blog and put one post on it.
I did a $100 advertisement and got 3 subscribers.
I tried writing a daily email but no one read it.
I created a product but no one bought it.
So that's why I started getting into bright shiny objects - cause this method didn't work for me.
That's the same thing as if you went to the wild field and tossed a carrot around for an hour, and tried to grab a wild horse and you couldn't catch him. Then you went back the next day with an apple and it didn't work either.
So then you jumped on the merry-go-round.
It's not cause you can't catch wild horses . . . .but you have to do it right, patiently, over time.
Let's face it, your biggest problem is that you just can't get your internet business off the ground. You work hard, nothing works. You keep buying more training, different ideas and ways and methods, but nothing works. It's an endless, accelerating cycle.
Here's the solution:
You must create a single, solid core business - single-mindedly build using strong core principles.
Critical: You MUST recognize that 90% of the work you will do will feel really boring and pointless.
ESPECIALLY when you read salesletter and bright shiny sales letter in your inbox each day about an "easier way"
(By the way, notice this page isn't shiny, there are no pictures of near-naked women or new sportcars or fake paypal stats. I'm also not telling you how easy this is.)
You must remember the truth: you have already tried the "easier way" and it didn't work.
Now let's talk about your time commitment. You must be willing to commit 20 hours a week to this. If not, don't do it. Stop wasting your time. Don't have 20 hours a week? Find it.
Do a weekly time diary. How many hours on email? On facebook? On TV? Washing your hair? Add it all up. Cut 20 hours out to work on your business. And reading emails and facebook is NOT part of your business, it's NOT part of the 20 hours.
Another challenge in building your business is that there are forks in the road, places where there are varying opinions of what works. In reality, they all may. But you have to choose one. And you MUST learn from a real business - person who's DONE what you want to do. Not some 22 year old pimply headed kid in a basement making $500 a month from running wsos.
Someone who's DONE what you want to do.
For example, if you want to speak, hire a speaking mentor.
If you want to be a ghostwriter, hire a ghostwriting mentor.
In my case, I've built a 6-figure IM business from scratch in about 18 months, and grown it every year except one or 2 in the middle.
If you want to do that, choose someone like me who's done it.
If that's NOT what you want to do, choose someone else.
So let's talk about some of the key forks:
1) You must choose a niche. There are 2 camps on this: choose something no one has ever done and hope there is a demand.
2) Choose a popular niche and find an angle where there is a demand but no one is filling that demand (that's what I recommend).
The next fork is where to find prospects.
You don't find prospects by buying "guaranteed traffic" or by buying solo-ads from people who are in the primary business of selling solo clicks - cause all your getting is a bunch of prospects who are good at clicking links and putting their name and email in an optin box. They aren't real prospects or they wouldn't spend their time clicking links in emails!!!
Key: you have to find out where people in your niche hang out online. Do they read articles on a certain website? Get on that website? Do they search google? Get into google? Are they watching videos? Create videos for them to watch.
Next, you need a place for your prospects to find out who you are and see that you are an expert. Have you ever thought about learning from someone and you went to their website or googled them and found they have (1) article online? A one-page website? Did you feel really good about working with them? Did you buy from them? Except in a solitary situation, you probably didn't. What if you found someone else with 200 articles and 200 videos and you could lose yourself in their site for a few hours? Who did you buy from?
You need a solid web presence, no matter what anyone has told you.
Write a blog post every working day for a year and you'll have 200 blog posts.
Record a video every working day for a year and you'll have 200 videos.
And you'll blow away your competition when someone is looking for credibility (YOU buy from credible people, fly-by-nighters, so why would you expect your prospects would want to work with someone with no site, no articles, no videos????)
Next you need an attraction piece. Something to exchange for someone's email address so you can build a relationship with them. Kind of like asking a girl or guy for his or her number. You gotta have a reason - like, I'm available and would like to take you to a movie, a dinner, a hike, whatever. Otherwise you are like a stalker.
Same with im. You gotta have something to give them. Like a checklist or a training or a manual, etc. Have YOU ever joined a list just to get a daily email? Probably not that often - instead, you exchange your email for some kind of "free gift." You gotta have a free gift.
Ok, now that you have all of that in place, you gotta do 3 things:
1) Write them a truly informative daily email that they WANT to read.
2) Send them a survey question to find out what they NEED so that you can create the EXACT product they need. STOP creating products based on what you THINK they need (cause you're almost always wrong)
3) Create a product to sell to them that meets their needs (the only reason people buy from you is if you can meet their needs)
Once you have one product, create another and another and another. How many successful people do you see online with just one product???
Then create a membership (so you have guaranteed, consistent income each month)
Then create a coaching program (so you can help people personally - plus it adds to your consistent revenue each month)
Now at this point, you might be thinking one of a few things:
Ok, I've tried that and gotten stuck.
Or that just seems so simple it can't possibly work.
Or, I don't know how to do those things.
Or, It's actually easier to keep buying bright shiny objects and jumping from plastic merry-go-round horse to plastic horse and pretend that buying new training I'll never study is gonna make me rich (at least it's a line you can keep telling your husband/wife, right?)
Whatever your reason (excuse) until you "get it" that this is the process that works, I can't help you.
No one can.
As long as you want to chase bright, shiny objects, there's nothing I can do.
